Packing Gear

I was saving this post for after my post about the top secret computer I got for the trip, but that post has morphed into grander things. So naturally its been postponed and this one will go first.

Lets see so besides this ultra secret cool computer I bought, both K and I also picked up new packs. We went with the GoLite Jam (a pdf i stored, I know it won't disappear in the future its this style, but smaller) roomy 3050 in3 of space. Our last packs through Switzerland-Italia were the smaller golite Ion packs, perfect for summer but we need something to carry our warm gear. It is still cold there!  Plus K found the old Jam (the 09's in the pdf) on sale for about 60$ a piece with tax. Not too shabby at all.. I think the PDF says its perfect for a weekend....  or 3 months you know,  whatever...

Rick Steves talks about it all the time, and I have to admit I am sure I've been felt up on a subway in Rome or Napels. Infact Rick makes the best version of these I have found. A money belt undoubtedly has saved my documents numerous times. And passports are laminated so the sweat the belts soak up latched to you just curls the passports instead of turning them to mush. Here is a link to Rick Steves Store and the money belt. At least it was when I wrote this.

Usual hostel necessities apply. Earplugs and a string to hang wet clothes are usually great items to carry with. I pack a small med kit (not as huge as my buddy LeVated might remember) but has the basics for cuts/scraps/rubs.

You might notice a green stick in there as well. It naturally draws your eyes towards it. It my friends is what helps keep you going when all else has failed. Its literally a caffeine drank in a small tablet. It works.

Tons of socks, raingear and plastic bags. Fun time for sure!

Here is my pic of both our gear. Its tough because we also have stuff we are taking just for the apartment the first month. I'll get a photo of post apartment for hopefully a lighter view.

L8 for now,
